Why do we add or remove friends on Facebook?

How can we use social media sites like Facebook to our advantage? If you are an entrepreneur then social media is a great online vehicle for you to promote your brand and products. If you are an A-list celebrity, then social media is your way to market yourself to other professionals and your way to reach out to fans. If you are a simple social media user then it is your casual way of adding friends. The main positive side of social media is its ability to connect us with people from all over the world. Whether you are a professional or a simple social media user, there are moments when you are motivated to remove friends from your friends list. We all have that person on our friend’s list that we want to cut off, a person who constantly posts inappropriate rants, rude comments or start fights with their lover in social media sites like Facebook. They are basically the equivalent of a husband and wife at a screaming match with each other inside the school grounds or the parking lot.

Spam vs. Spam

Do you remember the time when a spam is just a plain luncheon meat in a can? In the earlier years of the internet a spam is nothing but a product for culinary consumption. I myself use spam for a number of dishes like sandwiches, salads and other side dish. It’s a go to canned meat when you’re doing your weekly grocery shopping. But these days, spam has turned into a whole new entity with the advent of the most powerful technological tool which is the internet.

A spam in this day and age is known as bulk unsolicited electronic mail that may come in a number of forms like advertisements, classifieds, instant messages and the likes. These will usually arrive in forms of electronic mails that often corrupt or steal information from the subject and then the spammer will eventually use the subject’s information for malicious purpose.

FAVE! Toys of the 90s

When I was about seven or eight years old I always made sure that I woke up at exactly 8:30AM for the weekend kid show that featured fun children songs, good values and awesome toy advertisements! I was always in awe when I watched those fun advertisements where the toys walked and sang with so much glee. One of the key reasons why I watched that particular show was primarily because of the adverts that were shown during its airing. That at some point I really wished I had all of those toys that were presented on the television.

Now, twenty years have passed and I still feel giddy about those toys. I especially got excited when I saw the nostalgic internet explorer 90s commercial that brought a lot of memories as I watched it. Indeed, I was a 90s kid and with that, I decided to scour the video library of Youtube to check some of favourite 90s toy advertisements. Here’s my Top Five:

Polly Pocket
This is my first compact very handy toy when I was a kid. I absolutely love how intricate the toy was despite of its size. I would sometimes bring it to school so that I can play with my classmates during break time and then sadly I’d find out that a piece of the toy is missing, that I guess is the down side to Polly Pocket.

Let's Turn the Table (February)

When we browse a video library site such as Youtube it is quiet normal to expect a number of rude comments, whether these comments are related to the video or not, people seem to be unfazed in a number of social media sites. We see a number of people disrespecting the video platform just so they can present their egotistical nonsense by commenting and offending other subscribers. These offenders are known as internet trolls. And as this trolling trend grows, the growth of misspelled, misused and abused words online grows along with it too. And because of the prevalence of these things on sites like Youtube, I opted to make this monthly list of Youtube comments to somewhat turn the table on them. Here are some:
It should be “the man has serious balls”. SMS lingo should be used in the realm of the SMS world alone.

Wildcard! Remedies for Chapped Lips

With all the sun exposure and harsh weather, it is so common to experience cracked or chapped lips these days. Chapped lips are not only unattractive skin problem to have but it is also somewhat painful at times. Some of the common symptoms are dryness, cracking, redness, flaking, and so on. Some factors that lead to chapped lips are

• Lack of vitamins and minerals in our body
• Allergic reaction to some medicine.
• Dehydration
• Excessive licking of lips
• Intense sun exposure
• Frequent smoking
• Harsh weather

So, here are some home remedies you can do for your chapped lips:

Exfoliate your lips with a Toothbrush
Simply use a soft bristle toothbrush and gently rub it lightly against your lips in circular fashion so as to remove dry skin flakes from your lips. Do this at least once a week so that dead skin cells are removed properly.

FAVE! DATELINE: My kid will never do that

Dateline has this awesome hidden camera segment which I really find interesting and amusing, it’s a series called “My kid will never do that”. In this series there is a set scenario for kids where their values formation and critical thinking will be tested by using hidden cameras to record their actions. While their own parents and some child behavior experts analyze the child’s choices about a number of things like cheating, stranger danger and discrimination.

Here's one of my fave episode, DATELINE: My kid will never do that

Each and everyday parents try to instil to their kids the right values and choices in life but until that value is tested out there in real life, there is no saying what the kid’s reactions will be. Most parents passionately believe that they are teaching the right thing to their kids but the reality is, it’s hard to tell if the kid is really grasping the values that parents are instilling on them.

6 Types of People on Social Media (Valentine’s Day edition)

Valentine’s day is just around the corner, a lot of people are already planning their date with their significant other. People are starting to share their sweet thoughts online, friends are already giving out dating advice to girl friends and people are posting early valentines hint on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google Plus, and Instagram and so on. On the other hand, some people on social media might actually share their negative thoughts about Valentine’s day as well. Those negative  posts may include Facebook statuses, meme’s and even video rants. A lot of different personalities will pop up during this very romantic day, rants will be posted on Facebook, dates will be posted on Twitter and date food photos will be pinned on Pinterest as well. The same goes with YouTube, since people might probably upload sweet endearing video messages to their partner for the whole wide world to see.

Here you’ll see the six types of people you’ll encounter on social media during Valentines.

The New Couple / First Valentine’s Day Together
These people love to post heart warming quotable quotes about love. They usually tag their partner to that photo and then they’ll state how lucky they are to find each other in this great big world.  Throughout the day, they’ll keep updating their foursquare locations and just continue to post love centric messages and updates about their first date, first rose, first chocolate and so on.

WILDCARD! Home Remedies for Dandruff

Stop Scratching that Dandruff
Besides the fact that it will greatly wound your scalp, you are merely dispersing your dandruff to your shoulders, sleeves and basically all over your head if you continue scratching them. If you break the skin on your scalp, it will even get irritated with medicated shampoo and can even cause hair fall.

Wash your hair regularly with mild shampoo.
I would recommend that you wash your hair everyday with a dandruff shampoo until you feel that the flaking of the scalp skin subsides. However, be wary that excessive shampooing can really dry out a scalp, and might even cause more dandruff.

Let's Turn the Table (January)

Trolls seem to be so fearless in sites such as Youtube. These people love to criticize and malign other people by posting negative and offensive comments which often times lack the linguistic sophistication. They are so blunt, obnoxious, rude and fearless because they do these criticisms behind their computer desks, which give them the anonymity protection that they need. This linguistic troll problem is so prevalent these days that I am making a monthly list of these Youtube comments so as to perhaps shed some light on the most common misused, misspelled and abused words online. Here are some:

Before you call someone “EVIL”, first make sure you know the proper spelling of pageant.
Pageant pertains to a ceremony celebrating beauty, unique culture, elaborate costumes and awareness.
